The Irish Museums Association is committed to running a programme of high quality and relevant training events to meet the needs of those working across the museum and cultural/heritage area throughout Ireland. We aim to foster both practical skills and encourage critical thinking about museums and their role in society.
Central to our work is Museum Basics, a foundation course for those working in the small and voluntary museum sector, which includes modules on Introducing Museums, Conservation, Education, Documentation, Marketing, Management and Governance, and Collections & Collecting. IMA Education and Training also organises one day training sessions on subjects such as Museums & Volunteering, Museums & New Communities, and Museums and Web 2.0. We are always interested in hearing suggestions for training programmes and in co-partnering with other organisations.
