National Museums Northern Ireland (NMNI) have announced the appointment of three new Executive Directors: Laura McCorry, Director of Public Engagement; Colin Catney, Chief Operating Officer; and William Blair, Director of Collections.
Director of Public Engagement
Laura McCorry has been appointed as Director of Public Engagement. Laura will join NMNI from Tourism NI where she is currently Director of Product Development, with responsibility and accountability for directing and managing TNI's capital development program over the last 2 years, including delivery of 15 new tourism projects. Laura brings extensive experience in developing strategic partnership programmes and in helping to shape and influence delivery of local tourism and destination management plans in partnership with local authorities. Prior to joining Tourism NI in 2008, Laura worked as a Business Development Director for Invest NI in the US. Laura is a graduate of the University of Ulster with a BA Hons Degree in Business Studies and a Diploma in Industrial Studies.
Chief Operating Officer
Colin Catney has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer. Colin brings extensive experience in HR Management, Organisational Development and Change Management, having held senior HR roles in Nortel Networks and Dale Farm and as European Head of Talent and Organisational Development in Diageo. Most recently Colin has been a Director in the consultancy firm, Opes Business Partners, with responsibility for managing projects with a HR/Organisational Development focus in both the public and private sector in NI and ROI. Colin has particular interest and expertise in business strategy development, organisational development, staff engagement and talent management. Colin is a graduate of Queens University Belfast and member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development.
Director of Collections
William Blair has been appointed as Director of Collections. William joined NMNI in 2009 and is currently Head of Human History (and Transport), with responsibility for the development and management of the department and its collections. William has led and participated in research and public programmes relating to the collections and has played a significant part in enhancing the organisation's academic and public reputation. William brings to his new role extensive experience in developing partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders relevant to the work of NMNI, and having worked previously in the independent and local museum sector. William is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh and holds a Masters Degree in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester.
William Blair is a member of the board of directors of the Irish Museums Association.
