The European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards recognise outstanding heritage achievements in Europe by architects, heritage experts or craftsmen, teachers, volunteers or even schools. Applications for the 2017 awards can be submitted until 1 October 2016.
Projects that display dedication and excellence in the conversation of tangible and intangible heritage, support the exchanges of knowledge and experience throughout Europe, enhance public awareness and appreciation of Europe's cultural heritage, or encourage further initiatives are honored with the awards each year.
Ten awards are presented to up to 30 initiatives or projects, seven will be selected for the Grand Prix price, including a price money of 10.000 Euro. One project will also receive the Public Choice Award.
The prizes are awarded in four categories:
Dedicated service by individuals or organisations
Education, training and awareness-raising
The EU Prize can only be awarded to projects located in countries that are part of the European Commission's Creative Europe programme. The Europa Nostra prize is extended to several other countries as well.
