The Nothern Ireland Museums Council (NIMC) have organised a Study Trip to learn about the Alzheimer Gallery Pilot Programme at Highlanes Gallery in Drogheda on the 22 June 2016. This is a free visit, open to museum practitioners interested in developing activities for those living with dementia. Cost for lunch is 5 euro pp.
On World Alzheimer's Day, 21st September 2015, Highlanes Gallery launched the Alzheimer Gallery Pilot Programme. This programme was developed especially for people living with Alzheimer's and dementia and has been running since October 2015.
This study trip will involve meeting and discussing the experience of the Alzheimer pilot project with the gallery staff involved and their partners in the community. The project focuses on a few selected works from the exhibition programme, including One Day, Something Happens: Paintings of People, The Swing of the Sixties: Trinity's College Gallery, and the Drogheda Municipal Art Collection.
