Museum Transport Collections (Policy Day)

Posted: Sunday, 01 June 2008

Museum Transport Collections is being the Heritage Council on 23 June in the Hilton Dublin City Hotel, Charlemont Place, Dublin 2 (beside the Luas Green line stop 'Charlemont' on the canal). Under the National Development Plan provision has been made for the development of a Transport Museum. However, there is little understanding of the diversity and needs of these collections. Similarly the demand, and scale, of conservation needs fall outside available budgets for the Heritage Council. The purpose of the Policy Day is to to engage with the diversity of sectoral interests (rail and road) to begin the process of mapping a way forward for such collections nationally. See their programme for details. Contact Ms Martina Malone at martina@heritagecouncil.com if you wish to attend.
