The new Áras Uí Chonghaile / James Connolly Visitor Centre in Belfast was officially opened on the 17 April by President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.

Located close to where James Connolly lived, on the Falls Road, the centre provides information about the life and times of James Connolly and provides a meeting space for the communities in the Gaeltacht Quarter of Belfast.

Developed through funding provided by Belfast City Council and HLF among others, the exhibition traces the life of James Connolly from his first steps in Edinburgh, to socialist footholds in Belfast and America and to revolutionary proclamation in Dublin.
