Workshop: 'Valuing our scientific collections - unlocking their potential at European level ', Dublin (Training)

The TCD School of Botany and the Heritage Council are holding a short workshop 'Valuing our scientific collections - unlocking their potential at European level' in Botany Building, Trinity College Dublin, on 30th April 2019 (10.30 to 1.30 pm).

Purpose of workshop:
• To highlight the value of collections, held in museums and other institutions, as an important research resource, with a particular focus on scientific collections - biological and geological;
• To introduce a European initiative, DiSSCo (Distributed System of Scientific Collections) which aims to transform Europe's natural history collections into a sustainable pillar of scientific excellence and industrial innovation, and a pan-European Research Infrastructure;
• To explore the next steps in developing this initiative in Ireland

This is an open event aimed at museums, third level institutions, and other organisations which care for, collect and undertake scientific research on natural history collections in Ireland.
