NPPSH is an annual conference, initiated in 2016 by Maynooth University. Designed and organized by postgraduate students, for postgraduate students - our objective is to
highlight the scope and depth of emerging humanities across a diverse range of disciplines.

We invite both individual and panel abstracts from researchers (Masters and PhDs) for 20- minute presentations centred on the theme of ‘At the Precipice: Humanities in a Changing World'.

Brexit. Trump. The housing crisis. A terrible state o' chassis. 2019 is a year at an impasse. But it is also a year of commemoration and remembrance in terms of technology, transformation, culture, and exploration. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Mission, the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, the 100th anniversary of Bauhaus and the 500th anniversary of Magellan's circumnavigation of the globe, to only name a few. ‘At the Precipice' will foster discussion concerning the humanities at a time of flux, but also how the humanities can help us to understand the unknown. We welcome submissions from all postgraduate students in the humanities, as well as those in cross disciplines whose work may satisfy this call for papers and accompanying theme.

Suggested themes include but are not limited to:
• Tradition vs. Modernity
• Uncertainties within the Humanities
• Conflict & Resolution
• Methodological Breakthroughs
• Self-Reflexivity within the Humanities

The New perspectives symposium will be hosted by the Arts and Humanities Research Institute, Maynooth University.
