New Board members appointed to IMMA (Governance)

Two new Board members, Mr John Cunningham and Ms Margot Lyons, have been appointed to IMMA by the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan, T.D. They join the board for a five year term ending in July 2023. The appointments follow a public call for applications on and an assessment process.

John Cunningham's career has spanned nearly 35 years in marketing, management, client-relationship management, executive management and business development at organisations such as Irish Permanent Building Society, Friends First, Zurich Bank and Alexander Mann Solutions, among others. John is Founder/CEO at People Dynamic Solutions; a consulting business working with a wide range of organisations including SOVA, Lysis Financial, Compliance Ireland, Clare Co. Co. He is also a director and shareholder in CheckRisk. He has a long association with the arts in Ireland and with IMMA in particular where he helped to found the initiative ‘IMMA 1000'; a fundraising programme that has seen IMMA raise over €250K for Irish artists over the last three years. John has been a director of the Irish Youth Foundation since March 2002 and has been Chair of the Immigrant Council of Ireland since March 2004. In 2018 he was appointed Chair of Gaisce, The President's Award.

Margot Lyons has extensive expertise in Risk Management particularly in the Financial Services Sector holding senior roles with NatWest Markets, Chief Risk Officer with Ulster Bank Ireland DAC and Managing Director for Risk Management at GE Financial Markets. Margot chaired the Audit Committee of Irish charity Trócaire from 2011 to 2017 and is a graduate of Dublin City University and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Commenting on the appointments, Minister Madigan said: "I wish them the very best during their terms and thank them for taking on these very important roles".
