Posted: Monday, 30 April 2018

Following the succesful NEMO EU learning exchange in 2017 organised by the IMA, Dublin and Belfast hosted two of NEMO's working groups in April: Museums and Creative Industries and The Learning Museum.

From the 26 April 2018 to the 28 April 2018, members of the NEMO working groups on Museums and Creative Industries and The Learning Museum visited Dublin and Belfast, Ireland for study visits at different museums.

The Working Group 'Museums and Creative Industries' is looking into the mapping of various sorts of cooperation among museums and creative sector agents. The study should give an inspiration for what is already happening in terms of creative utilising of museum collections for producing products of high added value, and point to the rich opportunities the cooperation between cultural and creative sectors can open in the years to come. First results were published in November 2015. The think tank Creative Museum has been coordinating the working group Museums and Creative Industries within the NEMO since 2014.

The LEM Working Group continues the work of the LEM - The Learning Museum Network, an EU-funded project from 2010-2013. The group continues to explore topics around the fields of museum education, audience development, intercultural dialogue and lifelong learning.

Through various study visits to different museums in Europe, the group learns and researches specific subjects as well as encourage the exchange of information among museum professionals in Europe.
