    IMA Annual Conference 2010 Event Date: Friday, 26 February 2010

    See our Annual Conference page for the latest information. The Annual Conference will cover the theory and practice behind exhibitions, audiences, content, touring and buildings.   • Iveagh Trust Museum Flat

    IMA Museum Visit Event Date: Saturday, 27 March 2010

    Saturday 27 March. Meet 10:30am for a tour of the Iveagh Trust Museum Flat, 3B Iveagh Buildings, Patrick Street, Dublin 2. This is a free event and IMA Members are welcome to bring a guest.     Number 3B was preserved as a museum piece in 2002 after the death at the age of 95 of its last tenant, Nellie Molloy, who had lived there all her life, resisting all offers to bring her flat up to the modern standards enjoyed by her neighbors. Edward Cecil Guinness was the younger brother of brewer Arthur Guinness and had the housing complex built to replace slum dwellings in 1901.

    The museum houses a unique exhibition that, using a superb collection of historic and archaeological artefacts, tells the 1000-year-story of Waterford, from Viking times through medieval times to the present.

  • IMA Annual Field Trip - Co. Down

    IMA Field Trip Event Date: Saturday, 15 May 2010

    Saturday 15 May. Visits to Down County Museum and Down Cathedral, both in Downpatrick, Co. Down. IMA Members are welcome to bring a guest. There is a bus from Dublin, leaving at 9:30am and the fare is €15/£12 for IMA Members or €20/£17 for non-members. Booking is advisable as numbers are limited.     Down County Museum is located in the historic buildings of the eighteenth century County Gaol of Down. In addition to walking through the restored complex complete with cells, visitors can learn more about 9000 years of human history in County Down in the newly launched exhibitions Down Through Time.

    Down Cathedral is close to the burial place of St. Patrick. The earliest parts of the building date from 1220 AD with major restoration in 1790-1829 and recent work in 1986-7
