Visitor Services Supervisor, Glasnevin Cemetery Museum

Glasnevin Trust is seeking to appoint a full-time permanent Visitor Services Supervisor, responsible for providing day-to-day management of the Visitor Services function as directed by the Museum Operations Manager and the organisational strategic plan. Salary: €13ph. Deadline for receipt of applications: 9 November 2018.

Hours 39 hours (Full-Time Permanent), 5 days over 7, weekend and bank holiday availability a must, as these are busiest times

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Work as part of the overall Museum department.
• Work closely with other functional departments including Events, Sales & Marketing, Education, Accounts, Administration, Genealogy, Grounds and Facilities
• You will be responsible for supervising the desk team and the planning and control of our tours and other museum events
• You will lead on all daily, weekly and monthly reporting on cash control, invoicing, lodgements and visitor figures


Front of House Day to Day duties

• Looking after the smooth and professional running of reception day to day - supervising front of house staff but also making sure guides are arriving on time (tours are taking place on-time), are not taking too long on tours, conducting themselves properly, etc
• Ensuring all procedures (particularly opening and closing procedures) are carried out correctly/fully
• To train in any new front of house staff
• To complete daily visitor figures, cash reconciliation, weekly visitor figures and lodgements
• To lead by example in providing an exceptional welcome and experience for the visitor and to be the welcoming face of Glasnevin Museum
• To liaise with 3rd party vendors and concessionaires re catering and cleaning
• To supervise the day to day health & safety and fire control procedures are recorded and saved
• To be aware of and to control budgeted costs by effective monitoring of timesheets and roster


General

• To train in any new front of house staff
• To manage the museum operation in the manager's absence
• To engender a sense of teamwork and to promote a can do attitude by engagement, benchmarking and encouragement of team members
• To carry out all duties with due regard for all Glasnevin Trust Policies and Procedures
• To carry out any other duties commensurate with the post and the needs of the organisation

The overall focus of this role is to ensure we are providing an exceptional visitor experience through leading by example and innovation in a supportive and inclusive working environment.

Your duties will evolve over time as the needs of the organisation and the environment in which it is operating evolves. In addition, your duties may evolve in line with your own development in your role.

Person Requirements

• An interest in Irish history and notable figures, heritage and visitor sites
• At least three years experience in a customer facing role, preferably in visitor attractions, historical sites or in hospitality
• Previous supervisory and people management experience
• A positive, can-do attitude, the face of Glasnevin Museum
• Competence using Microsoft programmes, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook. POS and booking management experience preferred
