The National Museum of Ireland is seeking applications from suitable candidates to fill the post of Assistant Keeper Grade II, Art & Industry Division in the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks, Benburb Street, Dublin 7. This appointment is a two year fixed term contract, subject to a probationary capacity for a period of one year. The appointment may be terminated at any time by either side in accordance with the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Acts, 1973 and 1991.
The post-holder will work within the Art & Industrial Division (A&I), one of four curatorial Departments in the National Museum of Ireland. A&I is a busy Department engaged in managing the collections.
You will be responsible for general curatorial duties on the Art and Industrial Division's collections with specific reference to the curation, acquisition, interpretation, research, exhibition and publication of artefacts from the collections.
The Art and Industrial Division is comprised of decorative and applied arts and historical and military collections and includes the following: arms and armour, ceramics, coins and medals, costume, textiles and accessories, jewellery, furniture, glass, metalwork, musical instruments, transport, uniforms, philatelic material, scientific instruments, non-western collections and other related material to all of the above.
Starting Salary: Entry will be at the minimum of the scale €33,650 per annum, the 1st point on the Assistant Keeper Grade II PPC Scale (1% Pay Restoration Jan 2018). The rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy.
