Director, Chester Beatty Library

The Chester Beatty Library is an art museum which houses an internationally-renowned collection of manuscripts, miniature paintings, prints, drawings, rare books and decorative arts from Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Europe, dating from 2700 BC to the present day.

The Board of Trustees wishes to appoint a new Director (Chief Executive), with effect from early 2011. Salary up to €105,000

The role:
• Assume overall responsibility for the management of the Library, care of its collections and its public representation
• Strengthen the international profile of the Library
• Lead fundraising
• Liaise and negotiate effectively with the Department of Tourism, Culture & Sport

The candidate:
• Proven leadership capability within a respected museum or other cultural institution
• Academic credibility within a field relevant to one or more of the specialist Collections
• Fundraising experience
• An international profile
